The Navagrahas, nine grahas or celestial bodies, comprise Surya (Sun), Chandra (Moon), Angarakan (Mars), Budha (Mercury), Guru (Jupiter), Shukra (Venus), Shani(Saturn), Rahu and Ketu (the two nodes of the eclipses- the Solar and the Lunar).

The word Graha means “ to attract”. These celestial bodies are believed to affect the physical and mental condition of human beings. The grahas are considered to have both a malevolent as well as benevolent influence on the day-to-day course of one’s life.

The nine planets appear to move in the celestial sphere with reference to the stellar constellations known as Nakshatra (Stars). There are twenty-seven Nakshatras which are repeated in a HIndu Calendar every month. The movements of these bodies with respect to the Nakshatras are said to control a person’s destiny including his thoughts and deeds, status and prosperity. The worship of Navagrahas makes the planets that are in auspicious situations offer increased fruits of benefits for one’s actions while the planets which occupy less desirous situations tend to remove the evil effects of a person’s karma.

The Navagrahas are considered to be intermediaries between the principal deity in the temple, almost always Shiva and the worshipper. They each are in charge of specific areas of concern to the devotee, be it health, wealth,pursuit of knowledge, professional gain or just about anything else. The belief is that worshipping the specific graha for the specific need gets the devotee the boon he craves.

Arrival Trichy – Kumbakonah3 (100kms / 2.5hrs drive)

Upon your arrival at Trichy, you will be given a warm welcome by our tour executive, later drive towards Kumbakonam. Kumbakonam is called Temple Town. Here you can Visit Navagrahah temples like Thingaloor (Chandran) Temple”: visit to this temple is said to grant a comfortable and long life. ”Suriyanaar Temple”: there is a special temple for Sun God. Lord of this planet is God Siva Surya resides with his wives Chaya and Suvarcha in this holy place, “Kanjanoor Sukran Temple” : It is a holy abode for Sukran Begawan. Sukran or Venus is the bestowers of long life, wealth, happiness, children, property and good education. “Alangudi (Guru)” Temple .Here the god results in a cure from ailments and helps one to ward off his/her sins and gives strength, valour, longevity, etc.. He grants the boon of fatherhood to the childless, good education (Vidya). After visiting all these places, Stay overnight in Kumbakonam.

There is a widespread belief that a visit here would remove obstacles that delay marriage. “Thiruvengadu (Bhudan) ” Temple. This Devata bestows wisdom and wealth on his devotees.” Keelaperumpalam(Kethu)”. Kethu brings prosperity to the devotee's family. He grants good health, wealth, cattle and all round prosperity.“Thirunallar (Sani)”Temple. Here the god Sanishwara is considered equally a bestowers of all benefits to the devotees who pray sincerely to him. “Thirunageshwaram( Raaghu) Temple”: Rahu is instrumental in strengthening one's power and converting even an enemy into a friend. Kumbakonam – Trichy (100kms h3 2.5hrs drive)

Today morning after breakfast drive towards Trichy. After reaching Trichy, visit Sriranganathaswamy temple of lord Vishnu which is the largest functioning Hindu temple in the world and one of the 108 Divya Desams. Later check in to the hotel and relax. Evening proceed to visit Rockfort temple of lord Ganesha (Uchi Pillaiyar temple) which is the landmark of the city. This temple will give you the full view of the city and around the fort you can find the famous textile shops and jewelry shops. After shopping proceed to the hotel for overnight stay.
